Knee Injury and Results

Tuesday I received a text from a friend asking me if I wanted to play soccer on a team that night.
HECK YES!!!!
How could I say no!?
I have been dying to play again and have been bugging Devin for the past 5 years that we should start a team. Or that I just wanted to play again.
I ran home after work and Devin was awesome and found my cleats and shin guards for me.
I changed into my running pants, some bright yellow shorts, a black shirt and black jacket.
The team is all black if you didn't get that from what I was wearing.
We made it to the field in time for me to sign the waiver and warm up just a little bit.
The wind was blowing like crazy!
There was a storm coming in and this wind was bringing everything including the dirt.
I plaid all first half and had some good touches to get my skills back.
2nd half started and my true skills were coming out.
I was feeling very good and happy with how I was playing.
I only knew 2 people of the team so of course I had to do good so they would ask me to come back.
And you don't want to look like a dork in front of anyone you don't know.
We made it through about half of the 2nd half.
The other team had the ball and was going back towards the goal.
I was playing defense and was running back towards the person with the ball.
I put my right leg forward and it happened...
It felt like the bottom half of my leg and my knee completely disconnected.
I landed on my right leg and instantly went down.
I was in so much pain that I had no idea what was coming out of my mouth.
No I wasn't swearing but I was letting out the funniest sound.
Ok, I was whining and grabbing the grass.
But now that I think back it was hilarious!
The team was all around me and had my flip over to sit on my bum.
(when I went down I was kneeling on my left knee too affraid to move)
They asked me if I could straighten my leg and move my toes.
I started laughing because it was so funny that the whole team was around me.
Devin and another awesome teammate (I think his name was Justin) helped me off the field.
I tried to walk on it but it hurt and didn't feel right.
They got me in a chair and 'Justin' took off my shoe and moved my foot certain ways.
Nothing was hurting it but he didn't think it was anything like my ACL or MCL.
He suggested that we get xrays to make sure nothing was broken.
We met my Mother-In-Law at the Instacare to take Lyle.
She was soo sweet and worried about me.
I was trying to laugh because the pain was so bad and I didn't want to cry.
I kept cracking jokes and so did Devin.
It helped but man on man! That pain in not fun!
I'd rather go through labor than have knee pain!
They took some xrays and none of the bones were broken than goodness.
But my knee was "too made at me" to tell anything else.
I was to go home and elevate it for 2 days (which I did the 2nd at work) and am on crutches for 2 weeks or until I feel comfortable to walk on it.
I really hate having a hurt knee.
All I want to do is run.
As we were sitting in the room waiting for the Dr. to come in I told Devin "All I want to do is get up and run away from this".
I seriously felt like I could and then my knee would shoot pain down my leg.
Good times...good times....
I am staying positive and telling myself that it's just a little tare and will heal on it's own and I will be able to run Ragnar in June.
I have a Dr.s appointment tomorrow with my actual Dr. and we will see what he says.
Fingers crossed!
On another note.
I received my It Works package with my defining gel and greens!
I did a wrap last night and these are my awesome results!
Tonight I am going to do a greens facial.
You mix the defining gel and the greens together and have an awesome healthy facial!
I'll let you know how that goes!
I have a "Girls Night(day) In" party on May 2nd and we are going to do the greens facial.
I will also have the other products to try but am so excited!
A girls night is just what the Dr. ordered! ;)

Easter Weekend

I hope everyone had a GREAT Easter Weekend!
We had so much fun!
Saturday morning we got up and went to an Easter Egg hunt that our city was putting on.
It was mostly the "swarm of the parents"
I understand with the younger kids 2 and under have the parents help them.
But that doesn't mean that you rush out there and pick up most of the eggs for your child.
I let Lyle pick them up and put them in his basket.
He got about 5 full ones and then started going after the eggs that were already broken apart.
It made him happy so I was happy.
After the hunt Lyle got to sit in the firetruck and press buttons!
He was in button heaven up there.
Don't worry, he didn't sound the sirens or anything.
He's too light to push anything hard enough ;)

After that we went home and took naps while I ran to a Wrap Party with my friend Kortnee.
She did amazing!
I took great notes for my party on Saturday and am so excited!

I went home and then Devin, Lyle and I ran to my parents house.
Literally ran.
During the run Devin kept saying "what did I get myself into?"
I said, "you married me!" :)
haha!
We ran almost 8 miles and burned 742 calories that we quickly got back with the delicious dinner we ate.
After dinner Lyle got to do another egg hunt and it was so much better.
Lyle had time to walk around without being rushed and find all his eggs in the grass.
Or he called them "ba balls" which is football or basketball.
We are still working on the word 'egg'.
We had fun relaxing and watching the kids play together.

I even wrapped my Mom's arms after.
I'm excited for her results!
Don't worry. I will share them along with my own.
Sunday we went to church and Lyle did amazing!
He was soo good!
We got to listen to the great messages!
I had a hard time teaching our class (14 - 18 year olds).
I was the biggest baby.
It was still a wonderful lesson.
That night we went to Devin's Dad's for dinner and another Easter Egg Hunt.
Lyle picked up a few eggs and then was distracted by the jeep.
Mom and dad finished picking up the rest of his eggs.
It was such a fun weekend spent with family.
And it went by way too fast!
Anyways....Happy Monday!

We got up early and got the house completely clean for the party.
And even got my new blinds up!
I know....we are all going to miss the "Max chewed" blinds...
moment of silence please...
Moving on.
Everyone got to my house about 3 and the party started.
I wrapped 3 people during the party and their results are amazing!

After everyone left, I convinced Devin to let me wrap him.

Shut Up & Squat

Devin and I are going to Vegas with our friends next month and we are both wanting to get in shape.
I have been running but it has been a little difficult but we'll get into that later.
We were at their house on Saturday talking about looking good in swim suits and decided to do the 30 day Squat Challenge.
That's great for our butts but what about the rest of our bodies...?
So we found the 30 day Ab Challenge and combine the 2.
I also add in pushups to work my arms.
On the squats I do just what it says.
On the abs, I do the situps until I can't do them anymore same with the planks, and the leg lifts I add about 15 - 20.

I've always done situps here and there so what it says to do wasn't a challenge for my abs.
I will also add pushups until I can't do them anymore and everyday I find I can do more and more.
I text my friend every day to remind her that we have squats.
I don't want to be the only one in pain I don't want to be the only one looking good in my swim suit!
We are now on day 5 (rest day for squats) and man can I feel it!
And it feels amazing!
Who doesn't love feeling sore from a workout?
It means that you are doing it right and pushing your body!
Best. Feeling. Ever!
This weekend I'm going to do a wrap to tighten my belly from having my baby and I will post before and afters.
I'm soo excited to wrap!

So running....
I have had a hard time getting out and running.
With working full time, taking care of my family, doing things around the house and selling It Works!, by the time I'm ready to go running, the sun is setting or my gym closes in an hour....
When I first did my training for the 1/2 marathon it was easy.
I couldn't figure out why it was so hard to go running.
Well, when I did it the first time, I got off work at 3:30 and had no baby.
And we lived with my father-in-law so I didn't really have a whole house to take care of.
It's crazy how a kid can change your world ;)
For the better of course!
Even though I'm not running I still am working out and getting my heart rate up.
Just by working my abs, doing squats and pushups you increase your heart rate.
Also, if you are taking a break in between, make sure it's no more than a minute.
You don't want to give yourself too much time in between.
And remember to drink your protein!
Here is an awesome recipe with great protein powder!

Happy Wednesday!

Vacation and Running??

There has been some tough love going on here especially over last weekend.
Running on vaca is pretty difficult when you are visiting with your sister and we have places to go everyday.
And having a 15 month old sit in a car for so long and be put back in the car where he doesn't want to be, throws off his schedule.
I think he only went to bed at his normal time once the entire week.
I don't blame him either!
He had so much fun with Uncle Denny and Aunt LouLou!
I would have him calmed down and we would be snuggling watching Curious George when Uncle Denny would walk in and it was like a flip switched on.
He was laughing and running around the room.
It was so much fun to see him playing and happy.
It was hard not to laugh at him.
He is a major goofball!
Here are some pictures from our vaca.

I did workout twice.
Luckily my sister has an eliptical that is collecting dust.
So I blew off the dust and jumped on.
The first time I only did 0.5 miles but did a random which was like doing hills.

The second time I did manual and changed the resistance myself.
This time I 1.254 miles in just over 48 minutes.

An eliptical is completely different from running and I'm glad I at least was able to do that.
I'm going to get back on track with running this week.
My runs all seem to be similar so I'll post maybe two runs at a time so everything isn't the same and you fall asleep at your computer.
And I will be highlighting It Works! products every two weeks! :)
I have never been so excited about something as I am about this!
If you have questions or would like to try a wrap, shoot me an email at ABartholomew18@gmail.co
Or just leave me a comment letting me know which products you would like :)

I love this quote!
It really applies to everything in life that we are shooting for.
Getting healthy,  saving for a car or vacation..etc..
With running you really have to push yourself and get up off the comfy couch.
You can watch Netflix at the gym on your phone while running.
You can listen to music to keep you going.
One of my favorite movies to listen to while running is 'Goofy Movie'.
I can completely get lost listening to it.
And the music is so fun that you want to start dancing while running.
I've been caught dancing once or twice ;)

Happy Thursday!!
