Lyle Devin Bartholomew

I know!
Two posts in one day!
I couldn't wait to show off my adorable baby boy.
Like I said previously, Mandee came over and took some pictures of my Little Man.
These are the best three that she liked.
Don't worry...we are definitely taking more when we get into our house! :)
ENJOY

I just love this look!

I love my sweet Angel Boy so much!
And I can't believe how quick they change!

1 week old!

I can't believe my baby boy is a week old!!
Well...he was a week old yesterday at 2:31pm.
He has brought so much joy in our lives.
And he really is the most sweet, perfect angel.
He doesn't cry.
He whines and grunts.
If he does cry, it's not loud and it really is a very sweet cry.
Cries are hard to describe but this little boy is soo sweet!
He loves to be awake and take in the world.
He's usually awake an hour to an hour and a half.
So everyone gets to enjoy his gorgeous eyes.
It's been crazy figuring out my new life with a baby.
I honestly didn't think that it would be that hard.
I knew that I would have to feed him and change him and everything.
But I guess I thought that my life wouldn't change all that much.
Boy was I wrong....
Everything I do is on his schedule.
Last Thursday he had his 2 day check up and my Mom and I were going to visit my Grandparents before since they hadn't seen him yet.
I got myself ready and proceeded to get Little Man ready.
Right as I put on his pants, of course, he had to poop.
So I changed his diaper.
As we were getting ready to leave, again, he decided he wanted to eat.
By the time I fed him and burped him, we didn't have any time to go to my Grandparents.
We had to call them and tell them that we'd have to try again tomorrow.
We did get up there on Friday and they got to enjoy the sweet angel and give him loves and kisses.
My Grandma was holding him and we asked my Grandpa if he wanted to hold him.
He said no he didn't.
Yeah right...
Once I put Lyle in his arms he was all smiles and talking to him.
He told me before we left that I should bring him back and Grandma will get out some toys and they will play with him.
It was so sweet.
He has had many visitors and there favorite thing to do is wake him up.
They want to see his eyes but when they wake him up he gets mad.
It's kinda frustrating when they do that.
Don't worry...I do not keep quiet.
I tell them to knock it off.
It's awesome how he knows my voice.
Mandee came over yesterday(Sunday) and took some adorable pictures of him.
He ate an hour and a half before she got there so I figured he'd be ok.
I was wrong again.
He fought us to take the pictures.
Half way through, we decided to feed him.
Well...I did the feeding since he's not being bottle fed.
After I fed him he was perfect.
He was so content and Mandee got some awesome pictures!
I can't wait to see them!
I love being a Mom and couldn't ask for a sweeter baby.
The love that I have for my Little Man is amazing!
And I get to be with him all day everyday!
And the love that I have for Dee completely grew!
To see him with his son is the sweetest thing ever!
I love listening to Dee talk to Lyle.
It's nothing I've heard from him before and I could listen to him forever.
Here are the pictures, from my phone, of his first week here on earth.
(sorry if any are duplicates)

12.09.2012

12.09.2012 is my oldest sister's, Amber, birthday.
and I gave her the best birthday present ever!
A new nephew!!
Lyle Devin Bartholomew was born December 9th 2012 at 2:31 pm.
He was 20in long and weighed a whopping 8lbs 4oz!
My jaw literally dropped when they said 8lbs...
Here is the story

Devin and I woke up at 7 to get ready for Chloe's baby blessing in Brigham City
Chloe is the gorgeous 3 month old of our friends Chase and Emily.
I went pee and brushed my teeth before I went to get my hair done and makeup on.
I sat down on the floor to start getting ready and it felt like I peed my pants.
I stood up to go back upstairs because maybe I didn't get it all out the first time.
When I stood up, more fluid came out.
I wasn't sure but "I think my water just broke"
I walked upstairs to the bathroom where Dee was shaving and told him
"Umm...We might be going to the hospital instead...I think my water just broke"
The look on his face was priceless.
His face was halfway shaved and he was in the process of stroking down.
He stopped and looked at me with a little panic in his eyes.
I told him that I wasn't having any contractions and that we should just continue to get ready.
I went back downstairs, finished my hair and makeup.
Changed out of my dress that I was already in and put on some pjs.
Dee called Emily and told her that we wouldn't be able to make it and that Chloe's boyfriend was going to be born instead.
Before we left the house, I decided I should try and go to the bathroom again.
I sat down, took care of business and as I was standing up to put my pants on, mid stand, more fluid came out and went down the leg of my pants.
I started laughing so hard and called Dee in to clean up the floor while I ran downstairs to change into some other pjs.
We left the house around 8 and got to the hospital around 8:30.
Still no contractions and the whole car ride we were laughing.
We called my Mom when we got in the car to tell her that I think my water broke and that she should start to get ready.
We next called Dee's Mom but she wouldn't answer.
Both of us started calling her on our phones and finally after 5 minutes of trying she answered.
They got me into my room around 9, got me hooked up to the monitors, and we sent out the texts.
The nurse told me that I was having contractions about every 9 minutes.
I looked at her like "really?"
I honestly couldn't feel them.
My sister's were so excited and were getting ready as fast as they could to make it to the hospital.
April was the first one there and all we did was laugh.
They got me hooked up to the pitocin to start my contractions.
I finally started feeling them and all I did was laugh through them.
April had to keep telling me to breath but I couldn't because I was laughing so hard.
Amber showed up next, then Mandee and my Mom.
Mandee and Matt never responded to our texts to I told Dee that he better call them.
We were lucky we called when we did because they were walking into stake conference.
The party was officially started!
Ginger had a cough and we don't want to risk anything so she stayed home.
And Lindy is living in Cali...so we had to do everything via text at first.
The contractions started getting harder and I had to stop talking for a minute and concentrate on my breathing.
Dee was amazing!
He held my hand through every contraction.
I didn't cry and the pain was PAIN but I could handle it.
As the contractions got harder and harder I had to close my eyes, breath, and all I could say was "owe" and "ouch".
I didn't cry at all over the pain.
During one contraction, Peggy(my nurse) felt my tummy and said, "wow! that's a hard contraction"
She was so surprised that I didn't have the epidural yet.
She asked if I wanted it yet and I said no.
My sisters were all so sweet.
Amber would come over to the other side that Dee wasn't on and would rub my legs and hold my other hand.
I LOVE having so many sisters!
I couldn't have asked for better ones!
I think Mandee was wanting me to go natural because she kept saying that I should wait longer to get the epidural but if I did wait, I definitely would have gone natural.
Maybe next time I'll try it if it is as easy as it was this time.
The next time Peggy came in we ordered the epidural.
I am afraid of needles....
I absolutely HATE them!
So I was really nervous about the epidural.
The guy that did it was Kirk, or Peggy likes to call him Captain Kirk.
He did amazing!
I felt the first needle and jumped a little but the second one I didn't feel at all.
Dee was right there in front of me holding my hand and being amazing.
I laid back down and could feel the drugs working their magic.
The contractions were less and less painful after that.
Dee got a little bored then because I wasn't in pain anymore.
So he watched some netflix while I went back to talking with my sisters and of course, laughing.
When I got to the hospital I was dilated to a 3.
Peggy checked me after we got the epidural in and I was at a 5.
The last time she checked me, which was about 20 - 30 minutes later, I was at an 8.
Woohoo!!
She had me do some practice pushes and I was ready!
His head was down and Dee was actually able to see his hair!
I got a little teary eyed then because everything was finally happening and also because Dee was able to see/do a little more with this.
I get the joy of having the baby grow inside me and feel the kicks, hiccups, punches, etc. night and day.
Dee was able to put his head on my belly and hear the baby's heart beat and then he gets to actually see his son born while I do the work.
I loved that Dee was able to have that.
We got the Dr there and the fun began.
What was really cool, my sisters all came and stood behind Dee and were on the side of my bed.
Usually we all just sit on the couch and watch quietly.
They were all around my bed.
Oh, right before I started pushing, we snuck Tara into the room.
The max number of people I could have was 5 and I was already at that limit.
Peggy was really cool and didn't send Tara out when she got there.
We were just missing Ginger and Lindy.
I love technology!
They were both able to be there virtually!
Amber and April both brought their Ipads so we were able to video chat with them and they got to see the birth of their new nephew as well!
I pushed through 4 or 5 contractions and my gorgeous baby boy was here.
I remember thinking after the Dr. held him up, "is that really mine?"
It was all surreal and I couldn't wrap my mind around the idea that this was my baby and I was his Mom.
They got him cleaned up and the nurses were guessing his weight.
They were thinking 7lbs 15oz and then they put him on the scale.
8lbs 4oz...
All I heard was 8 and my jaw literally dropped.
I can't believe that I had an 8lb baby!
My sister said, "I should have had my camera on you instead of the baby when they said 8lbs"
I was shocked!
All my sisters and Mom were shocked.
We all kept saying 8 lbs!!
I was all baby that's for sure!
He was clean, I was clean and I got to hold my baby boy.
He was so chunky and adorable!
He had the biggest cheeks!
He still does but they were swollen so they were so much bigger.
Pictures were taken and hugs and kisses were given.
My Mom said that I had a "text book" delivery.
Everything was perfect.
Something that I really liked, the epidural didn't completely numb me.
I could still move my feet, my toes, my legs.
I had full control still.
I could feel the tightening of the contractions but couldn't feel the pain.
I could feel when I needed to push so the nurse didn't have to tell me.
It was awesome!
He has been so alert since he was born.
He kept looking around at all of us and was awake for quite some time after.
He is still so alert and loves looking around at everything.
And he actually will look you right in the eyes.
I love it!

We are taking everything day by day and honestly nights are the easiest.
He is eating great but at nights he sleeps for three hours, wakes up to eat, then is back out for another three hours.
During the day he is more awake so he thinks he needs to eat and gets frustrated when he doesn't.
So the binky has been a life saver during the day to hold him over until it is actually time to eat.
It's also hard during the day because I want to go out with my Mom and go somewhere at a certain time but this little boy has his own schedule.
I'll get him ready and dressed and he'll poop and I'll have to take off his pants and change him.
And then we'll get ready to walk out the door and he'll get hungry.
So I have to feed him.
All this is going on while I still need to eat and get myself ready to go out.
It's crazy how your life changes!
You have to take care of your baby and also take care of yourself at the same time.
Plus, you have to do all your house work and get dinner ready and things like that.
Day by Day...
It'll get better.
Today we are taking it easy and just chilling so I can have a relaxed day and maybe catch up on some sleep.
I love being a Mom and couldn't have asked for a better more sweet angel.
He doesn't cry that much.
He get upset and lets you know but not by crying.
It's hard to explain a noise but he's so cute.
When he does get really upset he gets this really cute high whine.
No screaming, nothing.
He really is an angel.
Here are some pictures until we get more from my sisters :)

Mom, Amber(birthday girl), April and Mandee

 Holding my chunky angel

I absolutely love these two boys!
Dee is an amazing Dad and loves little man so much!
They are so cute together and the way he talks to him is so sweet!
I have the two best, most sweetest boys in the entire world!

Happy Friday!!!

No work and Baby Boy

My last day of work was last Friday.
Honestly it was a bitter sweet.
I'm not going to miss the job at all.
It created so much stress in my life.
But.... (of course there's a but)
I'm going to miss the great friends I made and worked with
and also the income.
It's going to be hard not having extra money to "play" with
But we will be able to make it
I haven't been taking it easy not working.
Today is actually the first day that I have turned on the tv for longer than an hour.
I've been working on my house during the day.
I guess one day I did do laundry but that kinda had to be done.

Dee finished spraying the ceilings and it looks soo good!
It was a HUGE mess though!
The floors were clean before we started and after....they had a nice white layer on top of them.
Luckily, all we have to do is vacuum and it's gone.

Monday Matt and Mandee came over to help my paint the bedrooms.
I'm so glad they did come help!
I know how to roll paint but didn't really want to try to make it look good.
I did the corners while Mandee rolled.
I'm so glad the horrible gorgeous pinkish brown that was in our bedroom is gone and replaced by seafoam pearl!

Last night my Mom and I got the rest of the house painted.
At least what we could.
Dee has to texture a few more walls that he couldn't match the current texture.
It is an older house so I don't blame him.
The colors in my house are blue, grey and green.
The only green is in the babies room.
These two walls are different shades of grey(obviously)
The wall that looks white has a slight grey tint to it.

This is my favorite wall in the house! :)
I wouldn't let my Mom help with this wall because I was too excited and wanted to do it on my own.
Most accent walls that I see are red.
Don't get me wrong it looks really good!
But that's all I see!
And I'm not the biggest fan of red...
I saw this blue and fell in love!
Ok....so I have had this color picked out for the longest time.
And no one was going to convince my to not put this color up!
Dee even loved it!
I can't wait to get our furniture in the house and all the decor up!
It's going to look amazing! :)

Here is the baby update:

I went in for my last appointment on Wednesday.
He tlaked about inducing me that day if I wanted to but I told the Doc no.
I know too many people who have had bad experiences with being induced so it kinda scares me.
He continued to say that he doesn't like to go over a week past my due date because then he has to do the tests to make sure that the baby is still ok.
I think he is just lazy... ;)
He said that he couldn't induce me next Thursday because he had a choir concert to go to that night so we would plan on Wednesday night.
I love how it's all on the Dr.'s time.
I was ok with next Wednesday because I knew I would go by myself before then.
He told me that his nurses would call me with all the details.
I got back to my parents when I got the call from the nurses.
The hospital didn't have enough rooms available and couldn't get me in next Wednesday, Tuesday or Monday.
But they could get me in on Sunday the 9th....
I don't like having a date set because it makes me even more nervous knowing the date that I could have my baby boy.
It's easier for me to think that I could go on my own at any minute then having a set date.
So I am having a baby no later than Sunday night Monday morning!
I am really excited to meet my Little Man!
Everything is coming together and even if our house isn't completely finished, we are close enough that I could still take Little Man home to our house the same week we take him home from the hospital.

Happy Thursday!

Thanksgiving Week

Last week was so much fun!
I only had to work on Monday and had the rest of the week to do whatever I wanted.
Let's just say that it will be more "entertaining" when this little boy is here.
I hung out with my Mom when she wasn't at work and then when Dee got off work, we went to work on the house.
We got soo much done last week!
This will be a picture overload post because we got a lot done last week plus Thanksgiving!

We only had 12 days left!

They did an amazing job with the grout!

Before/After

This is how it is going to look with the floors finished.
The dark part in the corner is what the wood looked like before.
We are keeping the natural wood look on the floors.
It looks so amazing!

Matt did a great job tiling the floor!
He said that he has never tiled before this night.
He could have fooled me.

Dee sanding the floors.

We figured out how to get it done faster and have more fun doing it!

The boys had to join in too!

Even I joined in on the fun! :)
April was hoping that it would help induce labor.
The Little Man is still cooking today.

Brody figured out how to climb my tree.
He was having a blast jumping off it.
Good thing he didn't get hurt.

On Thanksgiving we had our traditional Turkey Shoot.
Of course I was there with all the boys!
I never miss!

I love this sexy boy!

I had fun shooting my hand gun and figuring out the aiming.
Hand guns are different than shot guns.
We threw pumpkins in the river and shot at them.
It was so nice because I could see if I was shooting to high or too low.

Can't forget the shot gun!
I LOVE shooting and the stronger the kick the better! :)

April and I pretending to shoot.
April doesn't like the kick from the shot gun.
At least we got her to shoot once. :)

Such a stud!!

They destroyed that pumpkin!

I'm so thankful for my sexy hubby!
He is really soo smart!
He has saved us soo much money on the house because he knows how to do everything!
(pretty much anyways)
He loves to have fun with me and fits in perfectly with my family!
Our nieces and nephews love "Uncle Dee" and can't wait to tackle him when he walks through the door.
I know he will be the best Dad to our little boy by the way he is with the kids.
I'm so glad that I am sealed to him for time and all eternity!
I couldn't imagine my life without him!
Happy (late) Thanksgiving!

And Happy Monday!
(only one more work week)
